The creative component/research project is the culminating project for the program, intended to be an in-depth application of the knowledge and skills acquired from the MS-IS curriculum.
The below attached research paper focusses on analyzing the current College of Business website using the widely accepted analytical tool, “Google Analytics” aiming towards making the website more user-friendly and device friendly and maintaining a thorough accessibility and friendly experience.
The core of the project is to analyze the user traffic on metrics of how many users are visiting the page, the amount of time spent, movement in and out of page and devices they have used. The project focuses on using these key metrics against various website goals like applicants for the year, curriculum visits, detail identification about career placement. By marrying the metrics with the college website goals, the research study identifies the areas which can be focused for web designers and web developers to make the website a crowd puller.
This illustrates screenshots from google analytics for all the suggestions that need immediate attention in terms of aesthetics, content, and accessibility of the website. This paper also covers the results of two surveys conducted amongst current students and alumni as validation in hinting at the issues on the website and also their opinion on current suggestions.
This paper also proposes valuable improvements from the point of view of a student by using diagrammatic workflow model to help smooth out informational flow when a user is goal oriented and gets lost in a myriad of pages. The results are backed by numbers from a survey conducted amongst 30 participants.
Overall the paper makes valuable recommendations to the audience looking for ways to add value to College of Business website thereby improving the user experience for both students and faculties.
